When the St George MBC Board of Directors hired Adrian Vermeulen as CEO, they wanted a fresh look at operating efficiency, productivity and reporting accuracy.

 

Generate Group has worked with Adrian when he was General Manager at other clubs, so Adrian was confident in what would be achieved.

 

By the second week gross profits had risen from 55.25% to 63.77% and are currently at 66.5%. Net profit for bar trading each month increased more than $20,000.

“As a long term user of the Generate solution, I am pleased to endorse the performance of system in the food, beverage, bottle shop and in the other retail outlets of the Club.

 

The Tweed Heads Bowls Club installed the Generate POS and stock solution in November 2000, after a lengthy deliberation period. Management had looked at other POS systems, but was impressed by the complete solution offered by Bevlink.

 

The Club had been using a simple cash register system for 10 years before purchasing the Generate Solution. The old cash register  system was not fully computerised, nor was it GST compliant. The Club had been averaging gross profit percentages on bar sales of 55% up until the time of replacing the old system with Generate.

 

At the time of changing the POS in November 2000, management was looking for an intelligent POS system which would enable:

  • better control over stock and cash in the bar and cellar
  • the ability of the system to produce high end user reports and have the capability of drilling down into transactional data and product sales for different times, days and other periods on total sales, department sales or individual POS sales
  • efficiencies in bar operations and reduce wages
  • the system had to be user friendly, both front and back of house, for general acceptance by staff at all levels of operations, and
  • the performance of stock takes needed to be automated, with variations being tracked by computer audit trail, rather than being performed manually and guessing the reasons for stock variations.

The Club has achieved all the above criteria and much more from the system, including giving Club members points, discounts and vouchers on the purchase of product throughout the Club.

 

The decision to purchase Generate was not based on price, but on what the system was capable of delivering to the Club in savings and efficiencies over the years.  Management was particularly impressed with the capabilities of the product.

 

The Club has used the system for over 6 years and in that time the gross profit percentage in the bars has risen to 63%, whilst still selling beverages at extremely competitive price breaks.  The improvement in the bar gross profit percentage has paid for the initial purchase amount of the whole club-wide system many times over.

 

In our case, I think the facts speak for the success of the decision to purchase the Generate solution.
